SAFTEY TIPS

Residential

Home Security Assessment: Consider having a home security assessment done by your local police department to identify vulnerabilities in your home.

Lock Your Doors and Windows: Always lock your doors and windows when you're at home and when you leave. This is one of the most effective ways to prevent break-ins.

Install Security Systems: Consider installing a home security system with alarms, cameras, and monitoring services. Visible security measures can deter potential intruders.

Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Pay attention to your environment and the people around you, whether you're walking, driving, or in public places.

Use Well-Lit Areas: Walk or park in well-lit areas, especially at night. Avoid shortcuts through dark or isolated areas.

Keep Personal Information Private: Be cautious about sharing personal information, especially online. Protect your identity and be wary of phishing attempts.

Avoid Walking Alone at Night: Whenever possible, avoid walking alone at night. If you must, inform someone of your whereabouts and stay on well-traveled paths.

Report Suspicious Activity: If you see something unusual or suspicious, report it to the police. You play a crucial role in community safety.

Emergency Contacts: Keep a list of emergency contacts, including local law enforcement and trusted neighbors or friends.

Create a Family Safety Plan: Develop a family emergency plan that includes meeting points and contact information in case of a disaster or emergency.

Teach Children About Safety: Educate your children about personal safety, including not talking to strangers and what to do in case of emergencies.

Secure Valuables: Keep important documents and valuables in a secure place, such as a safe or safety deposit box.

Fire Safety: Install smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Have a fire escape plan and practice it regularly.

Online Safety: Educate yourself and your children about online safety, including the dangers of cyberbullying and how to protect personal information.

Trust Your Instincts: If a situation feels unsafe, trust your instincts and take appropriate action, such as leaving the area or seeking help.
