Hosting events is a great way for police departments to engage with their communities and foster positive relationships. It also provides opportunities for local businesses and organizations to support these initiatives through sponsorships.

Some of our events/programs include but are not limited to:

National Night Out:

  • An annual event where community members, local businesses, and law enforcement

unite for a night of fun and connection. Activities include games, food, music, and

an opportunity to meet our officers.

Santa in Blue

  • The Township of Union is proud to host the Santa in Blue Toy Drive to

benefit families in need this Holiday season. Children are the spirit of

the season and this collection helps support those who otherwise

may go without, The yearly event collects thousands of toys and is a

time honored tradition that brings together Township Administration,

the Township of Union Police Department and the greater community.

As part of the collection, organizers are asking for new, unwrapped toys

for children newborn to 16 years of age. The drive is ongoing until

December 14th, with drop-off locations at: · Town Hall: 1976 Morris Ave ·

Union Police Department: 981 Caldwell Ave · Fire Headquarters:

1 Bond Dr. · Volunteers are needed for the sorting and are encouraged to attend.

Trunk or Treat

  • Let's celebrate Halloween together. Our annual Halloween "Trunk or Treat" celebration is packed with food, fun, thrills, music, prizes and much more! Creative costumes are highly encouraged!

Coffee with a Cop

  • Coffee with A Cop was launched in Hawthorne, California in 2011 when Officers from the Hawthorne Police Department were looking for ways to interact more successfully with the citizens they served each day.   Community policing has long been considered a framework for establishing trust between the community and the police. However, over time the character and composition of our nation’s communities have changed due to shifting demographics, more commuters, and the introduction of different communication methods such as websites and social media.   The Hawthorne Police Department hit upon a simple plan to break through the barriers that have been built over the years–a cup of coffee.   Coffee with a Cop events are now held in all 50 states and is one of the most successful community oriented policing programs across the country. The program has also expanded to outside the Unites States to Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Latin America.  The key to Coffee with a Cop’s growing success is that it opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together.
